VOL6 - AWARDS AND COVER REVEALS!
Welcome to a series I’m posting directly to my website, for posterity, if you will. I’m documenting my old newsletters - a little trip down memory lane for me, and something of a manual into madness for those of you who find yourself in the nether realms of my website.

Hey everybody!

Another brief but action-packed edition of JSH-Writes for you all today, with two primary orders of business.

Firstly, last weekend I woke up to some really exciting news that I've been nominated for the 2025 Instagram Writer Awards. This is an annual award run by a well-supported page that celebrates the efforts and achievements of independent authors in the Instagram space. While it is not a literary award, it is a fantastic initiative to help shine a light on authors who are doing it all on their own. I was fortunate enough to be nominated for the following categories:

-Best Debut

-Best Published Book

-Most Aesthetic Book

-Best Book Cover

-Most Realistic Characters

A huge congrats to all the other nominees, there are many friends and colleagues I've seen on this list and I'm rooting for all of us!

If you'd like to show some support to me or some other fantastic indie authors, you can vote for us in our respective categories - you can find me in League 2A.

Now for the second order of business... DARK TIDES COVER REVEAL!

This week, I opened up applications for people to join me in revealing the cover of DARK TIDES, the sequel to DARK SANDS, on Instgram.

The reveal will be taking place on December 3rd, and signees can make posts, stories, edits or whatever they like to help spread the word. Thank you so much to the two dozen + of you who have signed up already, it really means the world.

Signup form is here!

And that concludes the big updates for the month. In other news, I'm pleased to report DARK SANDS has ticked over 220 sales and has now found a home in three bookstores, including The Forbidden Forest in Dimboola, Heads & Tales Bookstore in Ocean Grove, and Woodland Collection Bookstore in Bendigo. I have been rejected by countless more, so these wins really count!

~With love, JSH <3
